Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply?

Just fill in the form above or the one on the membership enquiry page and we will contact you. It’s easier if you have a club member to sponsor you (don’t worry if you do not know anyone – we can invite you to some training sessions for you to try out).

Is membership automatic?

No – the club is small and has limited resources so we are not offering open membership. We need to know that we can offer you the right type of training sessions and be confident that the club is the right fit for you (and you for the club).

How much does it cost?

£50 per year to include unlimited access to training sessions, a training T shirt and England Athletics membership. Currently we have an offer for people joining as a founder member – it gives you membership until March 31, 2023 for the same cost. From April 1 2022 all new members will join on a rolling year basis (so if you join on June 1, membership will take you through to May 31 the following year. Note: EA membership will run from the following April as EA do not offer rolling year membership) .

I’m worried that the club will be too fast for me.  Will you be offering sessions aimed at me?

Yes – from January 2022 we will be offering sessions aimed at people starting out on their running journey or those simply happier with less intense training. We want runners of all shapes, sizes, ages, abilities and speeds to enjoy running and to create an inclusive club.  We do expect all members to be able to take part in an hour’s session (so not a complete starter).

Oh, I’m a complete starter! Will you offer a Couch to 5k?

Yes – we will although no dates yet. If this is of interest please state this in the ‘How did you hear about Inspire Runners?’ box.

I am an experienced runner who likes to compete – is there a place for me?

Yes – we have twice weekly training on Tuesdays and Thursdays for runners whose primary motivation is to get faster and enjoy racing – as well as wanting the camaraderie of training sessions.

I like the idea of the Social and Compete groups – but can you move between the two?

Yes – you can train with both groups or move between. It’s your choice.

I like doing athletics and am already a member of another club. Can I be a member of two clubs?

Yes – although we would not offer membership to officials from another club.

What are the benefits of EA membership?

England Athletics offers discounts on everything from on line running shops to ear phones as well as discounted race entry fees.

I’m already an EA member. What happens to my membership?

Once Inspire becomes an EA club, you will need to transfer membership to  – EA charges £10 for this. We cannot do this for you – but will send you the EA link. If you remain a member of another club, they will become your Second Claim club. Inspire will not be involved in athletics but we do plan to compete in cross country, various road races and, hopefully, the West Sussex Fun Run League (for all of these we need England Athletics affiliation and, for WSFRL, the league’s approval).

Can I join Inspire as a Second Claim Club?

No
